Xcelerator Updates

Online Update for Duramax 2006-2007 LLY/LBZ Xcelerators

Change History:

  • March 2007: PE Can update 1.20 addresses GM's new software update 12616700.
  • July 2008: PE Can update 1.21 addresses key/seed error.

IMPORTANT: Return your vehicle back to "stock" prior to updating your programmer with this update!

Your Xcelerator must have a side plug. Additionally, you will need a USB cable (USB-A to USB-B) to connect your Xcelerator to your computer.

  1. Download the current update and save the file to your Desktop.
    2. Filename: 121_Update.zip The 121_Update.zip file will contain four files:
    • CDM 2.02.04.exe
    • PECan_121_Update.bin
    • PPE Updater.exe
    • TUNE 7-8-07.bin
      •
  2. Extract these four files into a folder by right-clicking your mouse on the 121_Update.zip file and selecting "Extract All...".
  3. Find the folder that contains the four files...
  4. Double-click on the CDM 2.02.04.exe file (this will install a device driver that allows your Xcelerator and computer to communicate with each other).
  5. Double-click on the PPE Updater.exe file (this is the PE Can Updater program and it will allow you to install several updates into your Xcelerator). Your Xcelerator should not be plugged in until you double-click on the PPE Updater.exe file.
  6. Plug in your Xcelerator using the USB-B plug of your USB cable. Be sure the USB-A is plugged into the USB port of your computer. The PE Can Updater program has detected your Xcelerator.
  7. Click on the "Update Tuner" button in the PE Can Updater program. Select the PECan_121_Update.bin file and click "Open". Do not unplug your Xcelerator while the PE Can Updater program is running... The PE Can Updater program will have succesfully updated your Xcelerator if you see this dialog box. Click "OK". If you are updating a HOT Race Xcelerator, please stop here. Updating your programmer with the TUNE and TEXT files will result in loss of race tunes.
  8. Click on the "Update Tuner" button in the PE Can Updater program. Select the TUNE 7-8-07.bin file and click "Open". Do not unplug your Xcelerator while the PE Can Updater program is running...
  9. Once all updates have completed, close the PE Can Updater program and unplug your Xcelerator.

Congratulations! Your Xcelerator is up-to-date.
